Emotions play an important role in how we think and behave. Emotions can compel us to make decisions, both large and small, in our lives which result in either regret or joy. Emotions can also be short-lived, such as annoyance at receiving a telemarketing call, or they can be long-lasting, such as feeling a deep sadness over the loss of a dear one. But one of the most intense and sought-after emotions is love.
Remember your first love? How sweet each moment seemed when you were together. You might have felt like you could grow wings and fly; the euphoria was intoxicating. Everything seemed easier.
Love can also take forms other than love for a person. We often say, “I love this food”, or “I love this place”. But love for another seems to speak to our very humanity. It has defined cultures and nations. It can engulf us as it defines our beliefs.
Sadhguru looks at the significance of love and speaks about one (or actually, two!) kinds of guaranteed love affairs.
