We live at a time today where there has been an explosion in usage of electronic devices in our daily lives, and even kids in elementary school use laptops and tablets for completing their homework, playing games online and watching videos. In this context, many parents struggle with drawing the line with their kids on acceptable screen time, and we do see many children in the current generation addicted to their screens. Wouldn’t we all like to see kids spending more time outdoors connecting with nature, perhaps playing a sport and dabbling in art forms such as dance or music?

While using electronic devices to watch educational content may be beneficial, do kids really have control over the content they watch, particularly when advertisements are abundant and lead them to many unknown places? The busy pace of modern life sometimes pushes parents themselves to take the easy way out by engaging their kids with the screen so that they can get some work done. What are the long term consequences of this on the next generation and the world at large? Are we spawning off an era where people are out of sync with both the environment and other human beings? Correcting this trend may require parents to simplify their life to slow down and spend more time outdoors playing with their kids. Ideally, parents should certainly be able to influence their kids more than  digital media content does.

Listen to Sadhguru provide insights on parenting in this video, where he talks about the need to be ready to go all in with everything one’s got if one wants to nurture children and contribute to the creation of a new generation with immense potential.
