Others take a less positive view and believe that a feminist is focused on the issue of her own gender’s oppression, ignoring the plight of others.
In the United States, the women’s movement started around suffrage, the right to vote for women. It was a decades-long battle. It took activists and reformers nearly 100 years to win that right as many tried to block their efforts. Although this day marked a measure of success for women’s rights, the battle continues for women, not only in the United states but around the world.
Sadhguru explains how men and women need not be made equal in the sense of exactly the same. “Equal opportunity is fine,” he says, “but it is not necessary to expect a woman to do the same things that a man is doing.”
