Do you formulate an opinion about a person based on the way they are dressed? According to a Frontiers in Psychology article entitled: The (Female) Graduate: Choice and Consequences of Women’s Clothing, many people do.

The most obvious function of clothing is to protect a person from the natural elements. In summer, clothing provides protection from sun and wind damage, and in winter, it offers the warming effects of thermal insulation. However, clothing design most often follows subjective trends, rather than being guided by functionality. Many people are influenced by clothing designers and manufacturers, but why should someone else determine what you wear? And why are women especially subjected to closer scrutiny in this area than are men?

In response to a question from Her Royal Highness Princess Noor of Jordan, Sadhguru describes how deeply women’s clothes today have been influenced by men’s expectations.
