Up at five on the dot each morning, she tended to her morning routine, then off to work. As long as she knew what work awaited her at the office and it was familiar to her, she was fine. The minute her boss gave her something different to work on, anxiety set in, fueled by upsetting thoughts. Would she be up to the task? Could she finish by the due date? Would she be able to work with her new assigned teammate? On day one, and sometimes up to day three, she dreaded the new task, and resisted even starting it.

Many children and young adults seem eager to start something new. They seek out a new adventure and push any risks aside, even when their parents lecture them to be careful or not to try it. While youths joyfully look forward to change, the aged fear and lament it. But why?

Sadhguru explains that when we are young, we are curious about life and seeking life, but as we grow older we seek comfort instead. Because everything in the physical world is constantly changing, to resist change is to resist the whole process of life.
