Jiddu Krishnamurti was born on May 11, 1895 in Madanapalle, a small town in South India. He and his brother were adopted in their youth by Dr Annie Besant, then President of the Theosophical Society. Dr. Besant wanted to prepare Krishnamurti to be a world teacher and indeed, Krishnamurti is regarded as one of the greatest global thinkers.

However, in 1920, he broke with the Theosophical Society. From then until his death in 1986, Krishnamurti  went on to speak throughout the world to large audiences and to individuals about the need for a radical change in mankind. His presence was magical and his talks were captivating.
