On March 8th, many countries around the world celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD). It is a day to celebrate women’s achievements across all walks of life, irrespective of their nationalities, ethnicities, and cultural, political, economic or social diversities. At the same time, the day also presents an opportunity to bring attention to the challenges women still face such as socio-economic injustice, gender bias, physical and mental violence or harassment, glass ceiling, and lack of access to education and information, to name a few. As Sadhguru has said, “A society that does not respect and take care of its women cannot progress and prosper. May the feminine blossom around the world.”

In honor of International Women’s Day, Sadhguru is joined in this video by many influential women leaders including Bollywood actor Juhi Chawla, American singer-songwriter Demi Lovato, former professional race car driver Danica Patrick, Jordanian Princess Noor Bint Asem, BBC News host Yalda Hakim and social media influencers Prajakta Koli and Nikki Walton. These inspiring women from different spheres of lives come heart-to-heart with Sadhguru on a range of topics covering joy, love, life, karma, spirituality, and technology. Through all this, Sadhguru emphasizes on the importance of human beings’ inner perception and experience of life.

During one of the conversations, television personality and social media influencer Nikki Walton asked Sadhguru how he defines joy.

Sadhguru explains: “Well… if you could define it, it would not be worth pursuing it. Because… see, we are calling it by different names. Essentially, it is life. If it’s exuberant…in its exuberance, it may be joy, it may be blissfulness, it may be ecstasy. Well, if it’s relatable, it may become love. These are all different manifestations of exuberance of life.”

“Joy is not a philosophy that you take on. Like, right now it’s become “in pursuit of happiness”. Where are you chasing it? And why is it elusive? Because you think it’s somewhere else. It’s just that this life, when it functions in an exuberant manner, – not in a depressed way, in an exuberant manner –that means if you open the cork, it is exuberant. If you close it and keep it, then it becomes depressed.”

“In this massive life that exists on this planet, for all of them clearly drawn-out lines by nature: you can do this, you cannot do this. For you, lines are not fixed. So, human beings are not suffering their bondages, they’re suffering their freedom, because they don’t know how to deal with it.”
