What does inclusiveness mean to you? Are you thinking in terms of your personal environment: family, friends, peers at work? Maybe you extend your definition to your neighborhood or nation. Most societies create an inclusive environment built upon principles that are ironically confined to their nation’s borders.
The Cambridge Dictionary defines inclusiveness as “the quality of including many different types of people and treating them all fairly and equally.” However global inclusion is rare. Biases seep into a child’s life at an early age; parents, teachers, media, and friends inflict their opinions on children and each other.
Stereotyping is a common form of bias regarding another person’s race, ethnicity, gender, religion, or group. Most of us have experienced and/or partaken in the debilitating effects of stereotyping. This type of bias creates a feeling of separation and the illusion of superiority in the person who labels others. It crushes the ability to celebrate and appreciate different cultures. It leads to a limited enjoyment of all life forms present in nature. Why live a limited life when there is every opportunity to live life fully?
Sadhguru explains the importance of experiencing and living a life of inclusiveness.
