Often, these influences create a longing for a significant other. They tend to indicate that a person’s life is lacking if they are not in a relationship.

People are even exposed as young children to this type of thinking. Games, movies, and children’s literature often depict adults seeking or being in a relationship in order to have a satisfying life.

The ups and downs of married life are topics for countless books, as are thriving couples’ therapy practices and workshops. Many people can’t imagine life without a partner, claiming love and companionship are the keys to living a happy life. But are they?

Sadhguru looks at how human relationships are not absolute, how they vacillate and need lots of attention. He explains that the need for a relationship arises in most people because they are under the illusion that they are half a life, needing to be made complete by another. They don’t realize that every individual is a complete life.
