Formal logic was invented in Classical Greece by Aristotle. He hoped to find truth, using the tool of logic. However, many of his arguments and conclusions about physical science have, since his time, been proven wrong. Logic is supposed to be a tool, but like any tool, it has its limitations and drawbacks. No tool can be used for all situations.
Albert Einstein once said, “Insofar as mathematics is exact, it does not apply to reality; and insofar as mathematics applies to reality, it is not exact.” Einstein spent a lifetime studying math and physics, yet he concluded that mathematics, which relies on logic, had its limitations.
