If a person is most often quiet and reserved, they are labeled as an introvert. Vocabulary.com has this to say about introvert versus extrovert: Introvert comes from Latin intro-, “inward,” and vertere, “turning.” It describes a person who tends to turn inward mentally. Introverts sometimes avoid large groups of people, feeling more energized by time alone. The opposite of an introvert is an extrovert, who finds energy in interactions with others.

Introvert can also be a verb, meaning literally to “fold inward,” or to “turn inward,” as when a child’s personality seems to introvert once she starts elementary school.

Then there is the ambivert. This is a person who exhibits qualities of both an introvert and an extrovert, depending on the situation in which they find themselves. An ambivert can be someone who enjoys others, but also needs time alone. He/she can perform well as a team player, or independently.

In the business world, being an introvert is often considered detrimental to success. An introvert is perceived as someone who lacks the ability to be a go-getter and work well with others. Have you ever perceived yourself as either an introvert or extrovert, and felt that being an introvert could hinder your ability to be successful in life?

Sadhguru answers a question on whether we are more likely to be successful if we are extroverts, as opposed to introverts.
