Health is one of the most important aspects of life. In the last decade, there have been numerous research studies that have looked specifically at the benefits of Isha Yoga, and the results are very promising. Practitioners who have historically suffered from depression and anxiety saw marked improvement in their conditions, with 86% of practitioners reporting reduced symptoms of depression and 87% reporting reduced symptoms of anxiety.

When asked about physical health, practitioners reported improvement with conditions such as hypertension, asthma, migraines, diabetes, digestive disorders, and neck and back pain. 84% of practitioners suffering from insomnia reported improvements, with 40% reporting reduced medication use and 30% reporting that they stopped taking medication altogether. Female practitioners have reported that regular practice of Shambhavi has helped reduce menstrual related problems as well.

Why Does It Work?

“If we physically used our body as much as we should, I would say 80% of the ailments on this planet would disappear. The remaining twenty percent, in that another ten percent is because of the type of foods that people are eating. If they change their food habits, another 10% of ailments would disappear. That means only ten percent would remain.”

“Out of all the sick people, if 90% of them become healthy, just by using the body and eating the right food, the remaining ten percent could be easily handled. But now, the volume of ailment is so big because we don’t eat properly, or we eat very properly, and we don’t use the body properly.”

Sadhguru: “Today there is enough scientific evidence to prove that when you are blissful, your mind and body function at their best. I would say most human beings are functioning at 15 to 20% of their natural capabilities. If only you could sit here in a sustained level of pleasantness, you would see that in one week you would be significantly more intelligent and sharp than the way you are right now.
