Toronto is heralded as one of the most multicultural cities in the world. Over 140 languages and dialects are spoken and just over 30 percent of Toronto residents speak a language other than English or French at home. Toronto is the economic heart of Canada and Canada’s manufacturing capital with over 80,000 businesses, 8,000+ industrial plants. It also ranks as the third largest production centre for film and television after Los Angeles and New York City sharing the nickname “Hollywood North” with Vancouver.

The weekend of October 14th, Toronto resonated with a new buzz and exuberance as over 2000 participants and 600 volunteers from across North America came together at The International Centre to explore Inner Engineering with Sadhguru. It had been six years since Sadhguru last visited Toronto, so the volunteers left no stone unturned to make this the largest “sold out” program in North America.

The Toronto volunteers organized over 200 free yoga and meditation sessions. This along with strong online promotions effort created a solid foundation for community awareness and contributed to the overall success of the event. Even though the program took place in Toronto, the volunteers across North America came together and contributed towards various promotional activities.

Early Saturday morning prior to the program, the conference centre was abuzz with so much intense activity that even onlookers visiting the area were intrigued and inquired with piqued curiosity about Sadhguru. As the diverse group from all backgrounds and ages entered, most were awestruck by the mere size of the hall. The space appeared to be almost the size of four soccer fields. All were eager to see what the long-awaited program would reveal. Once the program was underway, within minutes the hall was filled with laughter as Sadhguru told jokes, poked at the participants, and prepared them for the inner journey ahead.

During the short break a few participants shared:

“Wow – two hours with Sadhguru went by so quickly – it felt like two minutes.”

“I am awestruck by the sheer size of the hall. It is heart-warming to see so many people in one place wanting to explore their inner wellbeing.”

“Sadhguru can convey the most profound ideas with nonchalance and an amazing humor. ”

The panoramic view of 2000 participants doing their practice in a synchronized manner was an incredible sight to witness. Even though there were so many people, and the hall was filled to capacity, many shared that it felt as though Sadhguru was interacting with them personally.

The last day of the program began with a lively morning session and culminated with  the initiation into Shambhavi Mahamudra. The space was vibrating with intensity as this powerful process was transmitted and a tremendous inner possibility blossomed.  In observing participants during the closing of the event, some were in tears, others were beaming and radiating with happiness and awe, some others were simply silent. It was evident that everyone had been deeply touched.

I was there! It was indeed an amazing experience. The follow up activity after the event by the volunteers to help you maintain your discipline and passion towards the Yoga (Shambavi) practice and the monthly meetings (Sathsang) makes all the difference. I feel supported, happy and making new friends within Isha even though there is no consecrated center yet in Toronto. I hope Sadhguru will create a consecrated space in Toronto since we have shown overwhelming support :)
