When we talk about the subject of cleansing the body and system, most of us think about the external products that we apply, and much less about the internal elements of which we are comprised. Or perhaps we simply ensure, as conventional wisdom suggests, that we eat a ‘healthy’ diet and drink ‘enough’ water.

While we are well aware of the standard recommendation to ‘drink 8 glasses of water a day’, what attention is paid to the quality of the water that we drink or how to store this water in a way that best interacts with the human system.

When it comes to health, there is a much more nuanced approach to be considered, which takes into account the fundamental elements of existence and how to be in harmony with them for optimal wellbeing.

In this video, Sadhguru offers the yogic perspective on how to keep the system cleansed by working in the right way with these five elements that make up all life.

He offers insights on simple practices and activities we can perform each day in relation to the elements in order to easily create wellbeing in the body. When we take care of these fundamental building blocks of life in the appropriate way, and when we teach our children how to interact with them, health is a natural consequence.

Another factor to consider in dealing with the elements is not only what we do, but how we approach and handle them. Sadhguru uses examples from well-documented experiments with water to demonstrate this.

Ultimately, wellness is a consequence of being in harmony with the elements of life that are not only around us, but in us.  From a yogic perspective, this human system is viewed as a microcosm of the cosmos and taking care of it optimally involves being in perfect sync with the forces of nature that govern all life.
