We can be involved in many types of relationships in the course of our lives. These include family, friends, co-workers, peers, schoolmates, and life partners. Feeling understood, valued, and loved is at the forefront of many of our actions. It can be an effort to offset any experiences of abandonment and rejection we might have had, an attempt to promote our self-worth, or a desire to fill an empty hole in our lives.

Relationships can even come in the form of support groups. Support groups have helped people control addictions, increase survival rates in cancer and other major illnesses, and deal with grief issues. However, most people center their relationship search on  finding a partner to share most aspects of their lives. Why does this need for a partner become the core of most people’s lives?

In this insightful clip from In the Presence of the Master Series, Sadhguru discusses why most people yearn for a human relationship.
