Scientists will tell you that the moon’s gravitational pull on the Earth is the main cause of the rise and fall of ocean tides. They also discovered that the moon plays a part in the activity of many animals, particularly birds; it is essential to migration and navigation.
Many teachers will tell you that a full moon affects the behavior of their students. It often causes them to exhibit stronger emotions and even those children who ordinarily seem shy suddenly have a voice on a full-moon day. But is this a fact? Do the different phases of the moon affect human emotions and thought processes?
Two professors of medicine met with Sadhguru to address the subject: Dr. Horacio de la Iglesia, professor of Biology and director of the graduate program in Neuroscience at the University of Washington and David R. Vago Ph.D., director of the Contemplative Neuroscience & Mind-Body Research Laboratory at Harvard Medical School’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital as well as research associate professor in the department of Psychology at Vanderbilt University. They had a conversation with Sadhguru about the influence of the moon on the human body and mind.
